A PRACTICAL EMPLOYER TOOLKIT
Each written topic pairs an inspection lens with a fictional workplace example, teach-back prompts and an action worksheet. Use the kit to discuss your own operation and record the real conversation.
General industry, construction and agriculture have different participation rules. Staffing, shifts and locations matter. The 12 topics are a reusable planner; they do not establish a universal legal schedule.
Check L&I’s meeting and committee guidance ↗INSPECTION PRIORITIES
L&I’s latest available table ranks these rule categories by citation frequency for federal fiscal year 2025, October 2024–September 2025, for industries excluding construction and agriculture.
This is a frequency list, not a ranking of fine amounts or a complete inspection checklist. Construction and agriculture have their own tables.
Read the official citation tables ↗Classification, gravity and applicable adjustment factors affect a penalty. Repeated hazards and failure to correct can have different consequences. Read the actual Citation and Notice and its separate correction, appeal and payment instructions; a generic class cannot predict a company’s fine.
